Today was a nice change from our first few busy days in the Bahamas. We were able to sleep in a little extra this morning, which was much needed for those of us still needing to adjust. After waiting for the boys to wake up and deciding on a plan for the day, the eight of us (myself, Pendrey, Kendra, Katie, Hannah, Sarah, David, and Casey) found the number 10 bus along the side of the road to take us into town. We stopped quickly for breakfast from a truck on the street (the boys were hungry), and then we grabbed a taxi and headed across the bridge to Paradise Island where we planned to visit the Atlantis Resort’s waterpark. After seeing the extremely high entry fees for the waterslides, we quickly changed our plans and decided to take a boat ride to a private island called Rose Island. Upon arrival we headed straight for the beach. We relaxed for a bit and then headed to a buffet lunch, which consisted of noodles, salad, fish, hot dogs, rolls, peas and rice and lemonade. After lunch we went snorkeling in the beautiful coral reef next to the island. We saw lots of different creatures in the crystal clear turquoise blue water including starfish, sea cucumber, conch and sea urchins. Everyone really enjoyed the incredible experience of swimming and viewing the ocean life. We then went back down to the beach and took some much needed snoozing…which we paid for later when our classic Oregonian sunburns appeared. We ended the evening by dining at Johnny Rockets diner with some burgers, fries and milkshakes. After dinner, we made our way back to Orange Hill via taxi and arrived just after the other half our group did at our hotel. Overall, today was a very relaxing yet tiring day that was such a blast. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us all on our next destination to Eleuthera! We leave tomorrow at 4 p.m. for Eleuthera and will arrive around dinnertime!
